Tenaska seeks long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with communities where its power facilities are located -- relationships built on respect, value and trust.
Tenaska is committed to working openly with communities and local leaders during the planning and development process to optimize the benefits of the facility to the community. To foster understanding, Tenaska meets often with local representatives, sharing knowledge and keeping the community informed about all aspects of the facility's development.
Independent power projects developed by Tenaska are sited, designed, constructed and operated to meet all state and national environmental standards. Tenaska is an industry leader in its commitment to the environment. For example, a Tenaska-developed project in Cleburne, Texas, is one of the largest water re-use projects in Texas, and it is currently developing advanced coal-fueled facilities that would be among the first in the world to employ carbon capture technology on a commercial scale.
Tenaska strives to be a good and responsible neighbor throughout the life of its projects. Tenaska Operations employees contributed more than 9,100 hours of volunteer service in 2007 in communities near the company's eight North American power plants, and employees in other business units and locations also donated time where they live and work.
