Tenaska Power Services Co. (TPS) completed its first energy management and optimization agreement in 1997, becoming the first independent power marketer to be responsible for off-system sales and purchases for an electric utility, the Public Utilities Board of Brownsville, Texas. Still operating under the “Brownsville” model, TPS and its customers share in the value TPS generates for them. Today, TPS markets power and manages assets for customers across the United States and in Canada, working often in coordination with natural gas marketing affiliate Tenaska Marketing Ventures.

Management Tools

A data management platform designed in-house creates significant competitive advantages by providing timely reports and services that can be used by various departments within any organization. PowerTools Platform® (PTP®) converts volumes of market data into valuable information, including “day-after” predictive financial reports, customer position reporting and enhanced settlement services and in-depth analysis of asset management activity. To date, PTP has helped customers recover more than $4 million in mistakenly billed settlement charges.
