DALLAS, TEXAS — Tenaska Power Services Co. (TPS) will provide energy management services for Longview Power, LLC (Longview), a 695-megawatt supercritical pulverized coal generating plant being built in West Virginia, the company has announced.

Longview will be one of the cleanest, most efficient solid fuel plants in the U.S. When it begins commercial operation in 2011, it will be the first new large coal plant to be built in the PJM market in over five years.

Longview is owned by GenPower, based in Boston, Mass. TPS is the electric marketing affiliate of Tenaska, one of the nation’s largest independent energy companies.

Under an energy management agreement, TPS will provide generation scheduling and settlement services and basis risk management in the PJM market, as well as certain contract management, credit management and market related advisory services.

“The scope of services being provided by Tenaska Power Services, integrated with GenPower’s marketing and origination efforts, is integral to the future success of optimizing Longview’s value and enhances GenPower’s overall approach to the market,” said Mark Cardano, Vice President Marketing and Origination of GenPower Services, LLC.

TPS President Trudy Harper said TPS looks forward to the opportunity to optimize Longview’s generation. “We are pleased to be chosen to bring our strength in market operations and asset management to benefit this cutting edge plant.”
