Dave Kirkwood

Senior Vice President, Head of Capital Deployment & Finance

Dave Kirkwood is the Senior Vice President and Head of Capital Deployment and Finance for Tenaska and oversees the origination, evaluation, analysis, negotiation and execution of opportunities to deploy Tenaska’s capital through acquisitions and investments. He maintains and fosters banking, investment banking and prospective investor relationships, and coordinates the sourcing, syndication and execution of capital-raising efforts, including corporate debt, project debt and equity. He also provides financial analysis and documentation support to other organizations within Tenaska and is a member of Tenaska’s Executive Leadership Board.

Before assuming his current role in 2022, Mr. Kirkwood served as the Senior Vice President with a capital formation and deployment role in the Strategic Development and Acquisitions group. Before that, he served as the Vice President and Treasurer responsible for corporate and project financings and development support. He has also led strategic development efforts as Vice President and is a founding member of Tenaska’s Asset Management group.

During Mr. Kirkwood’s tenure at Tenaska, he has led or participated in nearly $18 billion in transactions, including over $14 billion in debt-related transactions and over $3 billion in equity-related transactions. He led the creation of Tenaska’s tax equity investing efforts. Notable financings include construction financing of Tenaska Imperial Solar Energy Center South, the first bank-financed solar project in the U.S., and Tenaska’s Westmoreland project construction financing. He also served on the Board of Soltage, a commercial and industrial solar developer, and as an alternate board member of Hidroeléctrica Boliviana.

Before joining Tenaska in 1999, Mr. Kirkwood served as Technical Accounting Supervisor at WoodmenLife, where his responsibilities included risk and insurance management, investment accounting, tax compliance and planning. Previously, he worked as a Tax Associate at Arthur Andersen.

Outside of Tenaska, Mr. Kirkwood serves on the Creighton Preparatory School Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the Omaha Community Playhouse Foundation. He previously served as President of the Omaha Community Playhouse Board of Trustees. His prior service also includes the Board of American National Bank, President of the Make‑A‑Wish Foundation of Nebraska and Community Board Member of CHI Bergan Mercy/Creighton University Medical School. .

Mr. Kirkwood has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is also an Associate of Risk Management through the Risk and Insurance Management Society and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.
