Our development portfolio

Tenaska Development’s portfolio reflects the breadth of our capabilities in today’s complex energy market. We balance technology, reliability, cost, timeline and other drivers to meet customer and market needs.

Natural gas

Rooted in natural gas power generation, Tenaska Development has developed 9,000 MW of combined-cycle and simple-cycle facilities. As demand grows for reliable, dispatchable power, we are well positioned to deliver strong projects for a variety of customers. From siting, interconnection, engineering and permitting through construction, fuel supply, power marketing and asset management, we leverage the strengths of Tenaska to advance projects from concept through long-term operation.

Carbon capture and sequestration (CCS)

Tenaska Sequestration Services provides services across the CCS value chain. Focused on the transportation and sequestration aspects of CCS, we work with customers interested in utilizing geologic storage to manage their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, as well as customers interested in low-carbon power generation. Our five CCS hubs in development are capable of storing 25+ million tons of CO2/year.

Battery storage

Tenaska Storage Solutions develops battery energy storage projects that capture surplus electricity and discharges it when and where it’s needed most, supporting grid reliability and reducing energy costs. To date, we’ve developed 700 MW of operating battery energy storage facilities and 7,200 MW in development. Our team works closely with affiliate Tenaska Power Services Co. to determine how best to dispatch stored energy.

Solar

Tenaska Solar Ventures pursues projects with nearby access to the transmission system, sufficient sun exposure, available land with interested owners, and a community invested in economic benefits. Our team has successfully developed nearly 2,000 MW of solar projects to date.

Wind

With nearly 1,000 MW of wind now in operation, Tenaska Wind Ventures sites projects where there is nearby access to the transmission system, abundant wind, available land with interested owners, and a community invested in economic benefits.

10 years of development growth

Tenaska Development’s experience across power regions allows our team to adapt project strategies to changing market, legislative and regulatory climates.
