Our expertise
Our development
portfolio
As technologies advance and the market appetite for renewable power continues to grow, our focus remains on high-value opportunities. The Tenaska Development portfolio currently includes wind, solar, battery storage, green hydrogen, natural gas and carbon capture and sequestration (CCS).
Natural gas
Tenaska’s power generation development team develops utility-scale, natural gas-fueled generating facilities to meet the growing demand for reliable, dispatchable power in the United States. Tenaska utilizes its expertise in development, capital formation, engineering, construction, natural gas supply, power marketing and asset management to successfully develop, construct and operate our facilities.
Carbon capture and sequestration
Tenaska’s carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) development team, Tenaska Sequestration Services, provides services across the CCS value chain with access to capital, development expertise and operating experience to solve carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions challenges. Focused on the transportation and sequestration aspect of CCS, we seek emitters interested in utilizing this CO2 storage space, as well as customers interested in low-carbon power generation and products, carbon-negative technologies and sustainable hub development. To date, we have more than 11 hubs in development in nine states.
Solar
Tenaska’s solar development team, Tenaska Solar Ventures, has more than 17,000 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity in the development services pipeline. We have developed 850 MW of solar generation – projects owned by Tenaska or through development services agreements with other companies.
Wind
Tenaska’s wind development team, Tenaska Wind Ventures, has more than 12,900 MW of wind capacity in the development services pipeline. We have developed 990 MW of wind generation that’s now in operation.
Tenaska has earned the reputation for being a good business neighbor where we develop projects. Learn more about how we work with communities in this video.
Battery storage
Tenaska’s battery storage development team, Tenaska Storage Solutions, is equipped to draw on the full range of Tenaska’s expertise in energy supplies and marketing to help make energy storage a smart option for customers. Tenaska’s expertise in development, capital formation, engineering, construction and asset management support a portfolio of energy storage projects that use batteries as the primary technology. We also work closely with Tenaska Power Services Co., our power marketing affiliate, to help customers determine how best to dispatch stored energy.
