FRANKLIN, Georgia – Employees at the Tenaska Georgia Generating Station have achieved two awards from the National Safety Council (NSC) for outstanding safety performance in 2021: the Perfect Record and the Occupational Excellence Achievement awards.
“Our employees take safety seriously,” said Plant Manager Donnie Scott. “They demonstrate teamwork and innovation as they focus on maintaining and enhancing a safe workplace.”
The Perfect Record Award recognizes companies that have completed 12 months without incurring a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) lost-time injury or illness. The Occupational Excellence Achievement Award honors plants for operating with a safety record equal to or better than 50% of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics rates in the industry for lost-time illnesses and injuries.
In addition, employees at Tenaska Georgia received the Tenaska CEO Safety Award, an honor annually awarded by the company to a plant that goes above and beyond in promoting a strong safety culture.
Fueled by clean-burning natural gas, the Tenaska Georgia Generating Station can produce 945 megawatts of electricity during periods of peak demand for Exelon Generation Company, LLC, which markets the power in the region.
The plant, owned by Tenaska Georgia Partners, L.P., injects approximately $2.5 million annually in salaries and payments to local contractors and vendors into the area economy each year. In addition, employees volunteered more than 175 hours in support of local community and charitable projects in 2021.
