BILLINGSLEY, Alabama – Employees at Tenaska Lindsay Hill Generating Station have been honored with three National Safety Council (NSC) awards for their 2021 safety performance: the Perfect Record; the Occupational Excellence Achievement; and the Safety Leadership awards.

“Our employees take safety seriously,” said Plant Manager David Wilroy. “They demonstrate teamwork and innovation as they focus on maintaining and enhancing a safe workplace.”

The Perfect Record Award recognizes companies that have completed 12 months without incurring a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) lost-time injury or illness and the Safety Leadership Award recognizes facilities that maintain this record for at least five consecutive years. The Occupational Excellence Achievement Award honors plants for operating with a safety record equal to or better than 50% of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics rates in the industry for lost-time illnesses and injuries.

Tenaska Lindsay Hill is certified as a prestigious Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Worksite – the nation’s highest safety designation – by OSHA. The plant is among 2,050 U.S. worksites and 26 Alabama worksites to achieve the VPP Star.

Tenaska Lindsay Hill Generating Station is fueled by clean-burning natural gas and produces electricity for sale to Mercuria Energy America, Inc. It generates 859 megawatts of power, sufficient to meet the electricity needs for approximately 859,000 homes.

The plant, owned by Tenaska Alabama Partners, L.P., is one of the largest taxpayers in Autauga County. It has contributed $16.5 million in property taxes through 2021. The plant injects approximately $5.9 million in salaries and payments to local contractors and vendors into the area economy each year. Tenaska Lindsay Hill sponsors a college scholarship program to benefit Autauga County high school students. To date, more than 200 graduates have received $170,000 in scholarships.
