Kevin Smith Named New President of Tenaska Power Services Co. Effective May 1

OMAHA, Neb. – Kevin Smith, senior vice president of Tenaska Power Services Co. (TPS), has been named president of the Tenaska power marketing affiliate, effective May 1, 2012, with the retirement of current President Trudy Harper.

TPS, based in Arlington, Texas, specializes in physical power marketing and electric asset management for utilities and non-utility generators, and is one of the largest marketers of physical power in the United States.

Ms. Harper started with Tenaska in 1992 and became president of TPS with its inception in1996. Her retirement will be effective April 30, 2012.

Smith, a TPS employee for 14 years, has been instrumental in directing the company’s long-term marketing and business development activities throughout North America. He is actively involved in the development of the Southwest Power Pool’s upcoming Integrated Marketplace and he was instrumental in developing TPS’s Qualified Scheduling Entity and Retail Electric Provider businesses in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). He also managed similar developments in eastern markets.

Smith serves on the SERC Reliability Corporation board and executive committee, as well as the Southwest Power Pool Market Operations Planning Committee, and has been and will continue to be active in a number of industry organizations. Before joining Tenaska, he was key to the creation of Delhi Energy Services, Inc., Delhi’s power marketing affiliate, and directed that company’s activities.

Ms. Harper is involved in various industry activities, serving on the Members Committee of the Southwest Power Pool and the Executive Committee of the Electric Power Supply Association. She previously has served as chairman of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Stakeholders Committee and has chaired several other regional industry committees. Ms. Harper was the 2010 recipient of the Gulf Coast Power Association’s Pat Wood Power Star Award for her contributions to the deregulation of the ERCOT power market.

Before joining Tenaska, Ms Harper held various transmission and generation planning and state and federal regulatory affairs positions with Texas Utilities Electric Co. in Dallas.

Ms. Harper will remain a member of the Tenaska Board of Stakeholders.
